High-carbon ferrochrome manufacturers say that when smelting high-carbon ferromanganese, we often use the electric furnace method, and when using the electric furnace method, there are three methods, namely:

  1. Less solvent method: the so-called "weak acid residue method" between the solvent method and the solvent-free method is adopted for operation. This method is to add appropriate amount of lime or limestone to the charge to control the slag alkalinity m(CaO)/m(SiO2) or m(CaO+MgO)/m(SiO20) ratio between 0.6-0.8. It can not only increase the recovery rate of manganese, but also obtain slag containing 25-30% manganese and an appropriate amount of CaO. The slag can be mixed into the charge for smelting silico-manganese alloy, which can save lime and reduce The increased amount of charge dust due to lime deliquescent, thereby improving the air permeability of the charge.

  2. Flux-free method: For the rich manganese ore with high manganese oxide content, the ferromanganese can be smelted by the flux-free method, and no lime is added to the charge during smelting. The equipment and operation are similar to ferrosilicon, and it is used under the condition of insufficient reducing agent. For acid slag operation, the furnace temperature is about 1320-1400 ℃ lower than the flux method. This method requires not only qualified high-carbon ferromanganese, but also low manganese containing more than 35% for smelting manganese alloys* , Low-iron and rich manganese slag. The process of smelting high-carbon ferromanganese by the solvent-free method is continuous. The charge is continuously added to the furnace along with the melting process. The batch can be composed of 300kg manganese ore, 60~70kg coke, and 15~20kg steel scraps. In solvent-free smelting, the unit power consumption of the product is very low, and it is easy to produce low-silicon high-carbon ferromanganese, because most of the silicon is enriched in the slag.

  3. Solvent method: It is a method for smelting high-carbon ferromanganese. In addition to manganese ore and coke, the charge composition includes lime and high-alkalinity slag for smelting alkalinity, B=1.3-1.4, using sufficient reduction Reduce the manganese content in the waste residue as much as possible and improve the recovery rate of manganese.
